The Great Commission issued in Matthew 28:19 & 20 ("Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all the I commanded you") is to all believers including children. We strive to impact the children of our community with the message of Christ's love. And, to lead children to know and respond to Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, as led by the Holy Spirit and continue to facilitate Christian growth with Jesus Christ through His Word.
One of values of Kids Konnect is affirming the home as the central place of biblical guidance. We hope that we are a valuable tool for families as they "train up" their child whether in church support, classes or other material.
The call to Christianity must be responded to individually but it also has a community side, (Hebrews 10:24 & 25 "and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another"). We are to be meeting and working together as a community. Children respond to fun. Fun is an essential as we strive to help children and their families through grace connect people to Jesus so they can belong to God’s family and be transformed by God’s power.
We call our children’s ministry "Kids Konnect." We are committed to creating an environment where our children regularly connect with God, family, friends, and fun.
Our mission as a church and as children’s ministry is to help children to become disciples.
The best place for children to connect to Jesus and each other is in our Sunday School. Our Sunday School is far from the boring, we have children from Grade 1 through 5th learning about Jesus through multi-media curriculum. Our teachers also have a special time called “shepherding” when they and a specific group of kids spend some time in review, prayer and share time.
Another connect time is during K-Next. Kids K-Next is a children’s program that begins approximately at 11 o’clock Sunday mornings, after the songs in worship service. Kindgarten through 5th Grade have been invited to come to the youth room and hear an age-appropriate lesson. We don’t want families to feel forced to send their children but we want them to know of this option.
One of the ministries that helps our children become disciples is S.H.I.N.E.
S.H.I.N.E. ("Seeking Him in Everything!") is a variety of creative ministries for kids on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., for children 4 years old through 5th Grade.
Here is our schedule:6:30 - 7:00: Family Worship Time in the Sanctuary
Two times a month we will dismiss earlier with
that extra time will be spent in discipleship
7:00 - 7:20: Discipleship Time
7:20 - 8:00: Choir, Branches and Twigs, Preschool Time
7:20 - 7:40: Choir (together)
7:40 - 8:00: Preschool Time/Branches and Twigs
Two ministries that help children connect and have a place to belong is Upward Basketball & Cheerleading and Christian Samurai.
Upward Basketball or Cheerleading (Registration in October, games Jan-Feb). Upward welcomes children from all faith backgrounds, every child is a winner! Practices are once a week, same day and time, and the games only occur on Saturdays starting in January for eight weeks. We have a special Upward Sunday to highlight the program and what God is doing with this ministry.
Christian Samurai This is a ministry using martial arts to training the body, mind and soul for boys and girls age 9 to 17. Beginning classes start in the fall and spring and runs for 8 weeks.
